American Dream Mall took in hundreds of Jewish innovators to compete in this year’s Innovation Day. For months, each freshman tech class has divided into groups of two or three and built a new invention using an arduino. Some sophomores were also involved in the making of the website for the projects. Many projects focused on devices to help disabled people, and many others worked on environmental devices, but the creations varied in category across all groups. As the classes arrived, some were given time slots for our presentations, and the rest began to set up their science fair style display. After sitting through each presentation or having two judges view their project, the students were able to experience the rest of the mall. While most students were found on the roller-coasters, a significant number were seen receiving foot and back massages. After a long four hours of free time, all students reported back to the main room for the winner announcement. Thanks to Celan Rotenberg, Chloe Archibald, and Joseph Shemesh winning first place in the environmental engineering category, and Avi Lubick winning third place in engineering for personal care, Ramaz left American Dream Mall feeling triumphant. It is safe to say that Innovation Day was a success and is something that all of the incoming freshman and sophomores should look forward to.
